Dermot and Lara were invited to speak at an acting and theatre Q&A evening at Leeds University on 25 January. Also on the panel were Anthony Haddon from the theatre company Blah Blah Blah and Alan Lane of Slung Low.
Clowning Around
Our actors are always keen to develop and expand their skill base. Members Mark Esaias, Gemma Ryan, Stephanie Bulter, Sian Murray, Jo Gerard, Michael Forrest, Lisa Allen and Adrian Palmer recently attended an intensive course on Clowning in central Leeds. The course was led by Simone Lewis. Simone trained at Gaulier in 2008 and on her return to the UK continued her training with both Sue Morrison and John Wright. Since then Simone has lead workshops on Clowning for Sheffield Theatres, the International Schools Theatre Association, and Huddersfield Universtity.

Dermot will be appearing in a new production by Gemma Head, the writer of DIAL: A CALL CENTRE IN CRISIS, which Dermot also appeared in, and DEAD MAN’S SHOES for York based Mooted Theatre. This new, and as yet unnamed, production is part funded by the Arts Council England and follows on from a scratch performance at Seven in Leeds earlier in the year. It is also being supported by The Emerge Festival and The Carriageworks, Leeds where the invited private performance will take place on 23 November with the intention of touring in 2012.

Mark begins touring this month as Principle Puppeteer in the BBC's IN THE NIGHT GARDEN (LIVE) (BBC Worldwide, Ragdoll & Minor Entertainment) directed by Will Tuckett & Helen Eastman. The production tours throughout the UK in its own inflatable theatre and you can catch it first at the Meadowhall in Sheffield from 14 April till 2 May.

Dan Carey has begun rehearsals at West Yorkshire Playhouse for the developmental piece THE FALLING SICKNESS by JC Marshall. The piece will be produced by Upstart Theatre. It will be directed by Tom Mansfield and James Blakey with set design by Hannah Sibai.

This month sees Gemma join The Library Theatre's Artistic Director, Chris Honer, for a workshop based on Goldsmiths SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER. Gemma will also play a pivotal role in the live recording of Mikron Theatres new CD of songs from their many performances.
